They/Them Age 25Hey everyone, my name is Amanda Mendelsohn and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but have been living in Chicago for almost four years. I am in my last semester of my Master’s degree at SAIC in Modern and Contemporary Art History, and I studied political science and art history in undergrad.
As a trans non-binary lesbian, I am looking forward to connecting with the broader queer community in Chicago, and meeting new people from all different backgrounds. I am also currently working on my Master’s thesis about experimental lesbian video art in the 1980s and 90s, and I think being able to discuss this topic and the general queer artistic community with everyone will be fruitful! I am using primary source material such as archival documents, pictures, and interviews for my research, and am hoping to do the same sort of work during this class. I can’t wait to meet and learn from everyone.
