I'm a single black lesbian living on the south side of Chicago. I grew up in St Paul MN, in a mixed neighborhood. I socialized with mostly white kids in school (MN was 98% white when I was young), and was with mostly black and mixed people outside of school. I became very adept at code switching. What I'd like you to know about me is that I've always been adventurous in everything, from skydiving and riding motorcycles to solo traveling Europe. All of this did not prepare me for the years of medical problems I have faced over the years.

I decided to join this project to share stories with young people. I've realized how much bigger the gap is now between my generation and my son's (he's 24). Also, I have a lot of experiences to share and need a creative outlet.
