Emily is a sculptural fibers artist born and raised in Miami, FL. Her practice mainly focuses on hyper-femme queer aesthetics and seeks to dissect Latine cultural expectations. Centering the community she grew up with in her work, Emily often includes Chonga- related materials and often refers to Miami in her pieces as a way of keeping this connection to her ethnicity alive. The queer experience is one that is extremely unique to one's own life and yet relatable when it comes to the struggles we've had to face. Emily's extremely excited to be able to bridge the gaps between these different generations and connect with other queer individuals through dialogue and art-making!
