(she/her) I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana an area known for it’s beautiful fall colors. Spring, however, is the most beautiful season when redbud, dogwood, and crabapples array themselves against soft light green leaves that slowly unfurl in the warming, dappled sunlight. Opera permeated my waking hours. My mother often sang along with recordings of Jussi Bjoerling, a leading tenor during the 50s, while ironing my father’s shirts. Music remains an essential aspect of my life. When not confronted with a pandemic, I sing each week in a local church. I moved to the Chicago area in 1977 after completing a Bachelors degree in Environmental Health Sciences. After working as a Compliance Officer for OSHA, I returned to school to earn a Masters degree in Public Health, specifically Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the School of Public Health at what is now the University of Illinois at Chicago. I devoted my career to protecting the health and safety of workers in the Chicago area. I took an early retirement several years ago and worked briefly as a medical writer and editor. I am fully retired now and devote my time to gardening, reading, hiking and traveling. (Fall 2019-Present)
View Bio → I am a farm raised and Illinois good farm gal with an associates degree in horticulture garden center management and landscape installation. I identify as a cis woman and card carrying lesbian feminist, but not a separatist. I live at Town Hall Apartments partly owned by the Center on Halsted. I have numerous health issues which I have decided approach like a contact sport and go after issue as it shows up. I use she/her pronouns but answer to most anything. I try to use correct pronouns and hope to be corrected gently when wrong. I also say I am a "wishy washy" Renaissance woman. Meaning I am interested in a lot things but but know very little about any of them.
View Bio → Hello! My name is Lillian, and I am a sapphic woman who uses she/her pronouns. I am currently an undergraduate student in Visual and Critical Studies at SAIC. I grew up in rural New England, working in a family restaurant and local museums and galleries. I feel very connected to nature and miss the forest and my hometown queer family all of the time. My art practice is based mostly on printmedia and traditional drawing and painting methods. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I have begun to explore more creative writing.
